    Stay Healthy

While researching corporate wellness programs for a project with Fitness Ridge, I came across this classic Dilbert cartoon.

    An Amie Celebration!

This cartoon describes my wife and her daily routine so very well. She is a terrific mother and works so very hard, especially now that we have four children. Love you babe!

    Making it to Websters

Several months ago, friends of mine began to notice that the phrase, "a whole 'nother" had permeated our workplace vocabulary.  I admit that I had fallen victim to it.  Many speculated that it was a Utah thing.  My wife, who is from Utah, says it all the time and I like to give her a hard time.

Except in the past couple days, I have heard it used two times outside of my own household!  Once by a TNT basketball commentator, the other instance surfacing in the movie "Cloverfield" (lame movie by the way).  I am just waiting for the Websters Dictionary folks to officially add it to the list of acceptable jargon.

    A Culture

Have you ever felt incredibly welcome after arriving somewhere for the first time?  I felt that way when I first started at CirclePix.  It seemed that everyone was friendly and anxious to get to know the new people.  I quickly found out that this was part of the company culture, and it allowed me to develop some very key friendships over the years.

I felt this way again going to our new ward (church) this past Sunday.  We had not been sitting for five minutes when we were approached by a member wondering if we were new to the ward. Person after person arrived to introduce themselves and welcome us to our new "ward family".  Even the bishop came off the stand to greet us before the meeting started.  We were a bit overwhelmed, but it was refreshing to already feel like we belonged there.

We speculated that because we were a young family entering a ward where the majority is of advancing age that they were just happy to see us.  But as the meetings progressed, we saw that it was part of the group culture.  We left feeling like we had moved to a very good area for our family.

Have you ever felt this way about something?

    Our New Backyard

We were finally able to do something with our home in Orem!  We found a great family to rent it out and we signed the lease with them last Friday.  Monday morning we signed a lease on a home in Ivins and we started moving things in right away.  Tonight we took a drive up Snow Canyon and did a little moderate hiking with the kids.  The entrance to Snow Canyon is literally in our backyard, less than 1/2 mile away from our house.  We hope to take advantage of it often.  Check out the views!

    Spencer and the Eggs

We spent the weekend at my in-laws house in Alpine.  One morning we awoke and found that the house had been "egged".  I do not think that I or my family were the primary targets, but you never know.  The kids were very interested to find egg remnants all over the walk and driveway.  Spencer, being the most interested in the shell pieces, said, "Look Dad, a bunch of little egberts!"  Which just happens to be my sister's married name.

Sorry Susie, I guess your posterity will forever be synonymous with eggshells.

    Malodorous Bulbs

It is just starting to get warm here in St. George.  Our weather has been getting into the high 70's and low 80's during the day and it has been quite pleasant.

Today after work I got into my car and was met with a very unexpected odor....onions.  Confused on why my car smelled like onions, I searched high and low for the source of the stench.  I finally discovered a well-seasoned Arby's bag in my trunk, no doubt leftover from my days of constant fast food eating, that contained a cluster of red onions.

I was surprised that onions could be so potent after 3 months of hibernation, but upon second thought I realized two things:

    1. The cold probably suppressed the smell during those winter months and
    2. That is just what onions do...smell bad.

    Sheer Laziness

You can't help but laugh when you read this story reported by KSL.  At least when I was in school you actually had to work hard to plagiarize.
